Marshall María

Suiza / Reino Unido 1966. Maria Marshall explores the fine line between the autobiographical and the imaginary. The exploration of these themes has been her main focus since the creation of her seminal breakout works; ‘When I Grow Up I Want to be a Cooker’ from 1998 and ‘President Bill Clinton, Memphis November 13, 1993’ from 2000, were instrumental in establishing her voice as a leader in her contemporary field. Marshall regularly touches nerves, and after a recent group show at the National Museum for Women in the Arts, Washington, her work was once again targeted, this time by by internet Trolls and fake news on youtube. The artist as a result became embroiled in a political controversy in Washington DC.
