Born in México City 1965, she has worked since she was 20 years old, fusing the traditions of European painting with the distinct character of her self-expression abstraction. For her, art exists even before the artist creates it. She believes the role of an artist is merely to be a mediator between an idea and the art object. By using fragments of sculptures, poems, book pages, fabric and objects recovered from her personal antique archives or flea markets and antique shops, Pani creates abstract paintings filled with planes of color suggesting a poetic content that translate into figures. Her cultural background and upbringing in a family envolved in architecture and art opened herself to the world of culture since little. Gina started her career as a graphic designer and embarked in the world of art after been asked to participate in a group Ever since, she has concentrated in the advance of her paintings. After several technique and expression studies, she began to replace the defined figures of her earlier pieces with color brushstrokes, building them with increasingly loose and graceful constructions or splatters that imply both strength and poetry. In most recent years, Gina has developed a very individual form of abstract painting, arranging different fields of color alongside one another. Shades of White and grey were her preferred colors. Lately, she extended her palette to include bright contrasting tones. Today, only color is left for the viewer to discern between paper, fabric, poems and fragments.
